I’m the first to admit that I struggled to find my footing as a young adult, and in
hindsight, I wish I had known that my “unconventionality” was really a
patterned difference in how my brain operates. When I was diagnosed as
autistic at 34 years old (shortly after both my kids were also diagnosed), I finally
understood how my periods of high achievement and periods of burnout were
two sides of the same coin. My experience inspired me to be a life coach for
other neurodivergent folks as they leverage their talents and quirks to working for, and not against, the future they envision for themselves.
I’ve spent most of my life in higher education (first as a student and later as a
professor and academic counselor) and I love working with college students
while they dream, achieve, stumble, and get back up again. The transition into
college from high school and the transition out of college into the “real world”
are also great times to have a life coach with you who knows firsthand the thrill
and struggle of entering new life chapters as a neurodivergent person. In
addition to my collegiate affinities, I connect on a personal level with LGBTQ+
clients who are exploring the amazing intersections of gender, sexuality, and
neurodivergence. In the years to come, I’m excited to continue using my
coaching skills and life experience to help others make the most of their powers
for self-discovery and positive action.
